“I’m inspired by the 1970s — overstuffed sofas and tables with big fat legs and materials like velvet, chrome, and rattan,” says designer Sarah Ellison. “My collections are all about comfort, sculptural shapes, bold proportions and juxtaposition of textures.”
Boldly scaled
“The Yoko Bed started with the overscale ball feet,” says Ellison. “I wanted to create a bed that was beautiful, grand, and sculptural, but in wood, it feels earthy and warm and inviting. It has a commanding presence, but it’s really only the size of a mattress.”
The textural mix
Pierre Side Table
With a marble top, woven rattan shelf, steel legs and whimsical teak ball feet, Pierre plays up the material mixes Ellison is known for.
Valentina Screen
This striped ash and walnut screen is “part furniture, part sculpture,” with alternating arcs and rectangles that form a strong silhouette.
Huggy Chair
A cuddly chair with a low, bolster-like back, Huggy is soft, squishy and embracing, especially in cozy faux shearling.
Paloma Coffee Table
Hand-inlaid rattan “brings this amazing hit of texture into a space,” says Ellison. “The warmth of the rattan and the intricate handwork are quite special.”
